New publication: Pretty Sparkie! – (Re)presenting an Animal Celebrity

For anyone interested in the representation of working class identity in the North East, and/or the cultural identity of natural history specimens, I have written an article for this recently published book concerning the social history of Sparkie the Budgie from the former Hancock Museum, (now Great North Museum: Hancock), UK. The publication can be purchased in digital and printed formats here, huzzah!

Back at it in… You and Me, Dean Clough

This have been pretty quiet recently, mostly owing to work and all the crazy events I have been helping to organise and run in Hebden Bridge. Dull is one thing that Hebden is not!

I am delighted to have a number of self portrait works currently on display at Dean Clough Mills Link Gallery as part of Ian Taylor’s recent foray into (re)presenting self portraits.

Bizarre as ever, the exhibition is entitled You and Me and runs from 9th June – 14th July 2018.
